How to Get Free Content on Roku

About 6 months ago, my husband and I cut out cable and bought a Roku TV. I work from home and love to have the TV on in the background, but we were getting to a point where we could no longer justify the cost. Before switching to the Roku TV, I struggled to find good content that I wanted to watch. I found myself watching the same episodes over and over or struggling to find something on cable that was worth watching. We finally decided to make the investment to cut cable and buy the TV. It has definitely paid for itself within the 6 months that we've had it.

You don't have to go all out and buy a whole new TV, but we were in the market anyway, so we just went for it. Much cheaper alternatives include (prices are valid at the time of posting; please double check pricing before you buy):

Roku Express - $29.00
Roku 1 - $29.99
Roku SE - $32.99

One of the things that has helped us save money is taking advantage of all of the free content available on your Roku. It's truly incredible how much content you can get for free. Whether you're looking for horror, anime, foreign films, comedy, or children's programming, there's something for you!

Here are some Roku channels that offer free content:

How to Get Coupons (With Minimal Effort)

You don't have to dedicate hours a week or be an "extreme couponer" to use coupons, find good deals, and save a ton of money every month.

Confession: I used to be an extreme couponer. I even ran a couponing blog once upon a time. Multiple transactions, huge shopping trips, filling up a cart or two, and having to "tetris" everything in the trunk (and find a place for it all when we got home). That was just a normal day for me. I continued to coupon until I moved clear across the country, bringing my stockpile with me. (Thank you, TMO)

At our new station, I continued to coupon, but on a much smaller scale. I would look at Commissary deals on forums and take advantage of the deals, but the all day shopping trips were over and the extremeness was gone. I originally lessened my extremeness due to having an abundance of stuff we needed to go through as well as increasingly tightening rules, regulations, and honestly, being treated like a criminal or like I was trying to "pull one over" on the cashiers.

But then life got real and I had to stop altogether. A year after we got to our duty station, we were in a car accident that changed our lives and caused me to not be able to do much of anything let alone do large coupon trips. I still wanted to coupon and save wherever I could, but I had to find other ways to save that didn't require as much time and focus.

These are 7 ways I find (or have found) coupons that require very minimal effort!

How to Get Coupons

Buy the Sunday Newspaper

The first way to get coupons is perhaps the best known way, the Sunday paper. Depending on your area, time of the year, and any special promotions going on, you can get as many as 5 inserts in each paper.  This is not something I personally do anymore, but when I was still extreme couponing, it was one of my biggest sources of coupon savings. One way you can save on the cost of the paper is to see if your Dollar Tree will sell it to you the next day at half price. Some stores will gladly do this and others won't, but it's worth a shot.

Ask for More Inserts

An easy way to get coupons it to just leave a note in your mailbox for your mail carrier (or talk to him or her personally) and ask for extra ads and RedPlum inserts. Many of them will gladly give you extras if they have any vacant homes on their route.

Print Coupons

The next way to get coupons is to print them. In order to save my paper and ink, I only print coupons for things I know I am going to buy. I do this by searching The Krazy Coupon Lady's database for exactly what I am looking to buy. If I am looking to buy King's Hawaiian Rolls, all I have to do is search "King's Hawaiian" and if a coupon is available, it will pop up! No hunting needed on my part!

Get on Mailing Lists

The third way to get coupons is to get on mailing lists for your favorite companies, whether that be physical mailing lists or e-mail lists. You will get coupons sent straight to your house and be one of the first to know about new products or upcoming promotions. For some companies, an e-mail list is the only way you can get coupons for their products so be sure to sign up!

Email (or Call) Companies

My favorite way to get coupons is to email or call companies and just ask for coupons. If you love their product, let them know! If you've never had their products, ask if you can have a coupon to try it! You may get some no's, but the yes's far outweigh the no's! I have received dollar off coupons (which when combined with sales and money saving apps can lead to free or almost free stuff), coupons for 100% free products, and even huge boxes of samples and full sized products! I recommend writing a couple companies a week and before you know it, you will be getting coupons in your mailbox regularly!

In-Store Coupons

This way to get coupons requires little to no effort on your part and can be done while you're already at the store! Coupons in the store can be found in the following ways:
  1. A communal basket near the entrance.
    • See if your grocery store has a basket near the entrance where people can put their unneeded coupons. Drop off any coupons you won't be using and feel free to sift through for some coupons you will be able to use.
  2. "Coupon Fairies"
    • Along the same lines as the communal basket, are the coupon fairies. These are the people that have a coupon for a product and leave it near that product in the store. I have found coupons taped to or set next to the products we were already buying. I have even scored free stuff because of coupon fairies! Keep an eye out for coupons laying around your store left there by another shopper for you to use!
  3. Peelies and Tearpads
    • I am going to put peelies and tearpads together. Peelies are coupons that are attached to the product itself and tearpads are on the shelf in front of the product. Both of these types of coupons are no-effort ways to save on products you were already buying. Bonus points if the product is also on sale!
  4. Weekly Ads and Other Promotional Items
    • Weekly ads often have coupons that drop products prices significantly and if you skip grabbing an ad at the entrance before shopping, you may miss out! Many times, the coupon price is not listed on the shelf and you may miss a deal because you didn't know there was a coupon for it!
    • If you are able to shop at the Commissary, check out the "magazines" at the entrance for some good coupons! (I don't remember what they are called, but the next time I go to the Commissary, I will update this.)
  5. In-Store Events
    • Find out when your local grocery does sampling events and attend! Not only do they offer some great coupons, but the product is usually on sale too! And you don't have to worry about buying something and not liking it because you've already tried it!

Loyalty Card Coupons

Many stores, including the Commissary (although it's not very well known) have rewards or loyalty cards that can be loaded up with e-coupons! Most of these stores also have apps which make adding e-coupons to your card even easier and you can even add coupons while you're at the store! These coupons come off automatically at checkout!

Stay tuned for more ways to save on groceries in the weeks to come!

5 Ways to Save on Gas

We are going to be traveling for a retreat next weekend, so I wanted to talk about ways to save money on gas. Gas, just like everything else, can get expensive in a tourist city. Why spend money on gas when we can spend it on events, food, or whatever else you would like to do while traveling? Here are 5 ways to save at the pump so you can spend that extra money elsewhere!

5 Ways to Save at the Pump

Find the cheapest gas in your area. Submit current gas prices for a chance to win free gas! To save even more, use the map view instead of the list view to choose a gas station that is already along your path. There's no point in saving a few cents if you drive 2 miles out of your way just to save money.

Join the Fuel Rewards program to save 25¢/gal on your second fill-up at participating Shell stations and save at least 3¢/gal instantly on every fill-up! Please note that you do not have to link a card when it prompts you to during sign-up. Just scroll down and click skip. However, linking a card helps you earn more rewards, so if you are comfortable adding it, you have the potential to save more on gas.

Grocery Store Fuel Programs

Check to see if your local grocery store has any fuel savings programs such as the FuelPerks programs at various grocery stores and the Fuel Program at Kroger affiliates. Save money on gas just for buying groceries!

Drive Smart

Excessive acceleration and overly high speeds can all increase your fuel consumption which means more trips to the pump to spend even more of your hard earned money. Not to mention excessive acceleration and braking can wear down your tires causing them to need replaced sooner. High speeds are not only dangerous, but could cost you hundreds in speeding tickets. Drive smart and save money!

Buy Discounted Gift Cards

Use sites like Raise and GiftCardGranny to get discounted gift cards for gas stations. Combine the discounted gift cards with the other tips above to save even more! Sign up for Raise with code mevans12 to save $5 on your first purchase.

The Megan Marie's Weekly Amazon Favorites - Week of March 27th, 2016

Hey, everyone! It's me, The Megan Marie. I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. These are some of my favorite products on Amazon for this week! Enjoy!!

Food & Kitchen

Wine Chiller - This is the perfect wine chiller for wine lovers! It stores quite easily and fits in the drawer of our wine rack. We have not used it to chill wine from room temperature, but instead have used it to keep already chilled wine cold. It works perfectly for this purpose and does not dilute the wine like ice cubes would. The pour is perfect from the aerator and it lets your wine aerate to bring out the flavors. This is a great product that would make a great gift for the wine lover in your life!

Health & Beauty

ACOCO Nail Care System - I can't afford to go to the salon all the time and I thought this would come in handy and help save some money. I am totally impressed with this kit. It comes with everything you need to give yourself a manicure at home. You will need AA batteries to use this, so keep that in mind. It helps my natural nails look much healthier and shiner. I can shape them and make them look exactly how I want them to look. I love that this is nice and compact which makes it easy to travel with. This is very easy to use and I know it will be getting a ton of use in my house.

8-Port USB Hub - This has been the perfect USB hub for our side table in our living room. It has been nice to be able to charge all of our devices and have room to spare. It's nice to have enough ports to charge our guests devices as well. It looks great in our black and red living room. I have already had guests ask where they can buy one for their homes! This charges all my devices quickly and I don't have any connectivity issues or error messages when using this hub to charge my devices. If you are in need of a family USB hub, look no further! This 8-port hub is perfect!

Mamaway Nursing Bra - This nursing bra fits great and provides a nice amount of support. This is comfortable to wear out and doesn't show anything I don't want to show. This is also very comfortable to sit around the house in. It doesn't put pressure on sensitive areas like some other bras do. This bra unhooks and rehooks very easily to make nursing a breeze! This would make a perfect gift for a new mom!

Purefly Inflatable Neck Pillow - This is a great pillow for on an airplane. It has a clip in the front to help it stay on even through turbulence. It has extra padding which helps keep your head still and since your neck is less likely to fall to the side, you are less likely to get woken up (or get hurt). It inflates and deflates very easily and folds up incredibly small which is great to toss in your carry-on.

I received some of these products for free or discounted in exchange for my honest review and demonstration. I would never positively review anything I didn't genuinely like. I was not sponsored to make this post unless otherwise stated. This post may contain affiliate links.

The Megan Marie's Weekly Amazon Favorites - Week of March 13th, 2016

Hey, everyone! It's me, The Megan Marie. These are some of my favorite products on Amazon for the past two weeks! I have been super busy preparing for an event I am hosting, so I haven't been doing as many reviews. I decided to combine two smaller posts in to one larger one. Enjoy!!

MARSEE Bluetooth Speaker - I was amazed at the quality when I pulled this speaker out of the box! It is heavy and feels very durable. I couldn't wait to try it out! I paired it to my phone right away. The pairing was simple and worked without any issues. The sound is loud and great quality without any garbling on high-bass songs. The attached power bank is wonderful and helps ensure that your phone stays charged while you listen to music. I love the power meter on the bottom to help you know how much charge it has left.

1byone Bluetooth Headphones - The sound quality out of these headphones is great! They are comparable to much more expensive headphones. They are easy to pair and I haven't experienced any connectivity issues. It has a nice battery life and I haven't had them die on me yet. I wear them to the gym and charge when I get home, and they have been perfect for that. I love not having a cord getting in the way while I am working out! These headphones are a great value and I definitely recommend them!

Suaoki Solar Light - This is a nice small, yet powerful solar powered LED light. The light can get very bright and I love that you can also charge it by USB. I see myself charging this via the solar feature when camping, but charging it by USB for at home use in case of a power outage. I love how small this thing is. It fits comfortably in your hand which is great because it doesn't take up a lot of space while you're camping. This is a very affordable light and it is worth every penny.

DanceCrazy Massage Stick DVD - I just got a massage stick and I honestly knew nothing about it. I decided to get this DVD and I'm so glad I did. It's super informative and helps me know exactly how to use my new massage stick without hurting myself.

Live Infinitely Loop Resistance Bands - These resistance bands fold compactly and are great for traveling or tossing in your gym bag. There is a wide variety of workouts you can do with these bands. I love using this for bicep workouts the most. I love that they come in a variety of resistance levels and are clearly labeled right on the band. No more trying to memorize what color is what level. Having them labeled takes the guess work out of working out! The bands are nice and thick and don't hurt your wrists or ankles unlike others I have tried. This is a must have for your home workouts!

EatSmart Extra Wide Digital Scale - This scale looks very nice in the bathroom and is made of high-quality stainless steel. I love that it beeps when the reading is done, letting you know when you can step off if you can't see the screen (like if you're pregnant or weighing a dog). I am amazed at the 550 pound weight capacity on this scale. I've never seen a scale that could read higher than 350, so I am very impressed. The extra wide platform is easy to stand on and doesn't cause the scale to take up that much extra space when stored. I am definitely impressed with this scale and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Liname Pacifier Clips - These are adorable, high-quality pacifier clips. The clips stay on securely and can't be pulled off easily. I love that they can be used with any pacifier. This makes it a great baby shower gift for someone who is expecting a little girl. No matter what pacifier their baby ends up taking, this clip will work for it. There are so many gender neutral pacifier clips out there, which is great, but sometimes you just want something super cute specifically for girls. I love the plastic clips because they won't rust unlike the metal ones.

Stuff4Tots Crib Mattress Cover - This is a great quality crib mattress pad. It provides nice padding and added comfort without compromising safety. It is nice and breathable so if baby decides to flip over in the middle of the night, it shouldn't hurt them. It fits great and stays on securely without bunching up and causing a safety risk. It is great quality and washes well without shrinking at all. This is the perfect crib mattress pad at a great price and would make a great baby shower gift!

Toys & Games

Original Alias Board Game - I have a Traumatic Brain Injury and I am always looking for new ways to help improve my brain. Because of my limitations, we did not play this game as intended and did not use a timer. We took as long on each card as I needed to come to the correct answer. We took turns doing the guessing and doing the describing. It was a really fun way to help me improve my word finding skills as it helped me come up with multiple words to describe one word. We laughed the whole time we played this game and this has quickly become a favorite of ours.

Food & Kitchen

Darjeeling Loose Leaf Tea - This Darjeeling tea is absolutely delicious! This smelled amazing the second I opened the bag, and I couldn't wait to drink it. It tastes great with honey and I love that it is rich in antioxidants and minerals. I am very picky with my teas and this tea not only met, but exceeded my expectations. I think this is well worth the price and I will be repurchasing as soon as this bag is gone.

Egoz Mummy Sleeping Bag - This is a great sleeping bag that keeps you nice and cozy all night. It is nice and snug, which I like since I like to sleep with my blankets tucked in. Having the "hood' is great, because the first thing to get cold is always my ears. It helps to keep my ears nice and warm and I don't have to fight to keep a hat or headband on while I sleep. I wouldn't use this on a super cold winter night, but this works great for what we need it for! This is my first experience with a mummy sleeping bag and I am so impressed!

Woobamboo Pet Toothbrush - This pet toothbrush works wonderfully and is made of great quality materials. My dog doesn't seem to mind me using this on him and I don't think it's hurting him in the slightest. It is comfortable for the owner to hold and use. This is a wonderful eco-friendly alternative to traditional pet toothbrushes. I will definitely be buying more for my other dogs.

I received some of these products for free or discounted in exchange for my honest review and demonstration. I would never positively review anything I didn't genuinely like. I was not sponsored to make this post unless otherwise stated. This post may contain affiliate links.

Massive List of Product Testing Websites!

Hey, everyone! It's me, The Megan Marie. I have been asked quite a bit this week about how I get my free and discounted items on Amazon and through other means, like Influenster, and wanted to share that with you. Along with the links to the sites I use, I will highlight the sites I use most and give you some tips and tricks to get started. I hope you find this helpful and if you do, make sure you share this with your friends so they can benefit too! New to reviewing? Be sure to check out my earlier post for advice for new reviewers.

I will be adding more sites soon, but I wanted to get this posted as soon as possible.

Make sure you bookmark this page so you have easy links to the sites whenever you need them!

Amazon Prime is a must when doing reviewing. The $49-$99 initial investment is more than worth it with all the wonderful stuff you will be receiving. If you don't get Amazon Prime, you will have to pay shipping on most items and that can really add up. The great news is, if you are enrolled in at least one college class a year (including online), you are eligible for Amazon Prime Student. With Amazon Prime Student, you get a 6-month free trial membership, plus you only pay $49 a year instead of $99 a year. Even better? Sign up with my link and get a $5 credit! Not a student? Don't worry! You can still get a 30-day trial and the $99 for Prime is more than worth it. You won't regret taking the plunge and paying for Prime. Need to join Prime? Students, click here to get your $5 credit and start your 6 month free trial. Non-students, click here to join and start your 30 day free trial.

Next, go on to your Amazon account a review at least five things you already own, whether you've purchased them on Amazon, the grocery store, or at Walmart. This is so the companies that will be sending you products can see what kinds of reviews they can expect from you.

I would suggest making a new email when signing up for these sites, not because of spam or anything like that, but to help keep all review offers and review related emails together and not lost by regular emails. Additionally, if you download the myMail app, you can get notifications for emails as they come in which will help you snag deals! If you have push notifications on your regular email box, you will get very quickly annoyed, if your email inbox is anything like mine, that is. You can turn push notifications on for just your review email and get each deal pushed to your phone as soon as it goes live!

A final tip, if you are going for some of the great, deeply discounted products up for grabs, save yourself even more money by buying discounted gift cards on Raise! Sign up here to get $5 off your first gift card purchase to save even more!

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to email me at megan@themeganmarie.com.

Now, what you've all been waiting for: the links! Click the names to go to the website. I will mark the websites that are primarily for bloggers pink for those that would like to skip over those because they don't have a blog.

Primarily Bloggers & Social Media Influencers

My favorite sites are:

I have been a member of Tomoson since my first blog 3 years ago and I love it. It is where I started my product testing journey, and it still works for me every single day. Most of the deals on Tomoson require a Facebook post, Twitter post, or blog post in addition to an Amazon review unlike most of these other sites, but I promise it is worth it. I definitely recommend Tomoson, even if you just go for the Amazon-only reviews.

AMZ Review Trader

I just started this website in December and have already completed over 200 reviews through them. The application process for each item is very simple (the click of a button) and there is a wide variety of products offered. This is the site I go to if I am in need of specific items. This has very rapidly become one of my new favorites.

Elite Deal Club

On Elite Deal Club, deals go live three times a day, 10 AM, 2 PM, and 8 PM EST. Just log in to Elite Deal Club and click claim your code and the deal is yours! No applying like on other sites, just click and it's yours as long as you get it before it sells out. You get 1 deal at 10 AM, and unlimited deals after 2PM. The limit for 10 AM resets the next day. If you're not in the Eastern Time Zone, make sure you convert the times right. I didn't for the first week or so, and I missed out on some great deals.

UberZon Club

UberZon Club is unique in that reviews are not actually required on the products you get from them. When you sign up, you are signing up to get email notifications of deals from anywhere between 85% to 100% off. I would suggest signing up with the myMail app I talked about above to get notifications when deals go live.

Review Kick

On Review Kick, you can apply for up to 10 products at one time. If you want to apply for an eleventh item, you'll need to cancel your request for another item and request the other item you were wanting. You may not get approved for all of them. I say give it a few days, and if you don't get approved or denied, just remove your request and apply for different products. I received a bunch of amazing teething necklaces through this website that I am very grateful for.

Amazing Deals Group

On this site, you get 1 Deal Coin when you sign up and you get another Deal Coin if you link your Facebook account to the Amazing Deals Group account. You use your Deal Coins to get codes for free or discounted products. Once you submit your review and they verify it, you get your Deal Coin back and can spend it on other deals. I love this website because I was able to get a tin of fresh baked cookies from David's Cookies for review!

Vogue Influencers - This appears to be separate from Vogue Insiders, but I may be wrong.

Please tell me if there are any sites that I have forgotten or if any new ones are created and I will add them to the list (and credit you, of course!). Please also let me know if any of these links don't work. As I was making this list, some of the websites in my bookmarks tab no longer existed and I only created the bookmarks tab 4 weeks ago, so websites can come and go quite a bit, unfortunately.

The Megan Marie's Weekly Amazon Favorites - Week of March 6th, 2016

Hey, everyone! It's me, The Megan Marie. These are my favorite products on Amazon for this week! Enjoy!!

Ziggy Baby Crib Sheets - This is a great, soft, high-quality sheet set. The colors are adorable and the sheets came out of the wash exactly the same as when I put them in. No fading or bleeding of the colors. I definitely recommend these sheets from Ziggy Baby!

Food & Kitchen

Simpler Life Collapsible Colander - I hate how much room traditional colanders take up! I was very excited to find this collapsible colander to help us regain our cabinet space! It is amazing quality, works perfectly, and folds up very small! We now have our cabinet space back and I couldn't be happier with this colander!

Little SqueezeMe - These pouches are great for both children and adults. I like to put smoothies and homemade applesauce in these and toss them in my husband's lunch. They don't look childish at all, so they are great for him. The clear fill line is wonderful so you know exactly how much you are eating! These are super easy to fill and clean. I definitely recommend these.

SnackCubby - This has been a great way for my husband to take snacks to work. I was sick of always buying Ziploc bags and this is the perfect solution. They are great for eating snacks in the car, a situation in which Ziploc bags just fall flat (literally). Ziploc bags are so hard to eat out of one handed. These fit nicely inside the cup holder too when you're not eating out of them. I haven't yet tried to make popsicles with these. I love that they are clear so you can see what snack is inside without having to open them.

Ancient Greek Remedy Oil - This oil really helps moisturize your skin without leaving it greasy. It has a nice smell which is not overpowering. It is easy to apply and absorbs quickly after use.

Rose Cup - I have been wanting to switch to menstrual cups for a while and I am so happy I chose to go with the Rose Cup. After the slight learning curve, I was good to go and now it's easy to use.

With menstrual cups, there are no more trips to the store because you ran out of pads or tampons, plus think of all the money you will save by not having to buy them anymore! Menstrual cups are much safer and better for your body (and the environment) and have a drastically reduced risk of TSS. Menstrual cups are amazing and I can't believe I didn't switch sooner!

Phytopia Tranquility Essential Oil - I love putting this essential oil in my diffuser necklace. It smells great and helps reduce my stress and anxiety all throughout the day. It's also great to put in a desktop diffuser. I have not tried putting it directly on my skin because the other two ways I use it work great for me. This has quickly become a staple in my house and I will definitely be repurchasing.

Fitness A2Z Pilates Ring - This has been a great addition to my workout routine! It is nice quality and is very comfortable to hold and use. It has a great amount of resistance and is perfect for both arm and leg workouts. The included resistance band is an awesome bonus and is good quality as well! I definitely recommend this pilates ring!

MasterPal Telego Bluetooth Speaker - This speaker is perfect for in the shower. I hook the tail on my shower curtain rod and I'm good to go! Unlike with other shower speakers, there is no suction cup which is liable to come off the wall. I broke my last speaker because it fell off the wall. Another place this would be good is wrapped around your stroller handle so you and your little one can listen to music while on a walk.

intelliARMOR 4-Port USB Charger - This is the perfect charger for traveling. With just one outlet, you can charge up to 4 devices. There is no decrease in charging speed when charging one device versus four which is great! It's very lightweight and easy to toss in your suitcase.

I received some of these products for free or discounted in exchange for my honest review and demonstration. I would never positively review anything I didn't genuinely like. I was not sponsored to make this post unless otherwise stated. This post may contain affiliate links.
